I find that I often name my dogs after movies, songs or TV shows. I’ll Fly Away is, of course, the name of a hymn, and it was also the name of a TV show (which was named for the hymn!) starring Sam Waterston and Alfre Woodard. Ms. Woodard played a housekeeper/nanny type person by the name of Lily, hence the name. I love the song and thoroughly enjoyed the TV show, although it wasn’t on for very long. My Lily is an inbred Marty daughter and she has always been a great mom and produced beautiful puppies. She’s getting old and fat – just like me, but we still have a good time together!
