Trucker went to his first show when he was not quite 9 months old.  The first shows he went to were the Toledo Collie Club and Greater Brighton Collie Club shows.  He placed in his class all 3 days, but – no points.  The next show I entered him in was the Detroit Kennel Club show at Cobo Hall.  I handled him and we showed to judge Tom Coen.  Tom gave him Winners Dog for 2 points, and he also won Best Puppy.  Then he placed 4th in the Puppy Group!  It was very exciting!  Trucker had an enormous coat and he was a beautiful puppy.  He won his first major under judge Irene Bivin as Winners Dog and picked up two more majors his next week-end out at the Midland MI Kennel Club shows under judges Guy Jeavons and Charles E. Trotter going Best of Variety both days!  I was certain he’d be a champion by his first birthday in June, but it wasn’t meant to be.  He still needed 4 points and he won 2 of them Memorial Day week-end at the Kalamazoo shows under judges Virginia Lyne for Winners Dog and Arley Hussin for Winners Dog and Best of Winners (it was so hot that week-end!!).  Then he decided to blow his coat (shed out) and so he was done going to dog shows until his new coat came in.  As soon as he was presentable I took him back out and he won his last 2 points under judges Beverly Capstick for Winners Dog and Irene Bivin for Winners Dog and Best of Winners.  All owner handled – which was a first for me!
